Moving abroad

Here you can read more about what you need to do when you move abroad.

Within the EU/EEA

When moving within the EU/EEA, you should inform us via the chat in the app about your new address abroad. You can read more about how to chat with us here. We’ll then request:

  • An official document confirming your address, such as a population registration certificate (personbevis) from the Swedish Tax Agency

  • Which country your tax residence will be in the future

  • Your Tax Identification Number (TIN). Contact your local authority if you’re unsure.

Once we’ve received a document confirming your new address, information about your new tax residence and your TIN, we can update your address.

Outside the EU/EEA

Lunar is a bank for customers with ties to the EU/EEA. As a rule, we cannot retain you as a customer if you move to a country outside the EU/EEA, as retaining customers outside the EU/EEA entails a lower level of security and higher risk than we as a bank are willing to accept. In certain exceptional cases, however, we may grant existing customers the ability to continue with their Lunar account, provided they’ve moved to one of the countries below.

Approved countries outside the EU/EEA for existing customers:

  • United Kingdom

  • Switzerland

  • Greenland

  • Faroe Islands

  • Monaco

  • Andorra

Good to know

  • If you move to another country outside the EU/EEA for more than three months, with the exception of the countries in the list above, we’ll terminate the customer relationship with you. The notice period is two months.

  • Inform us via the chat in the Lunar app about your move and we’ll help you with the termination.
